WHAT IS BMI?
BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It is a calculation used to estimate body fat percentage based on a person's height and weight.
WHAT IS THE BMI NEEDED TO BE A CANDIDATE FOR SURGERY?
You must be at 31.0 BMI or under the day of surgery. You will be weighter before surgery, if your BMI is higher than 31.0 your surgery will be cancelled, and our standard cancellation policy will apply, resulting in a penalty fee.
HOW CAN I CALCULATE MY BMI?
Formula: BMI = Weight (in kilograms) / Height (in meters)
WHAT MEDICAL TOURISM MEX. CAN DO FOR ME?
We will support you about any question or concern that you could have in the before or after the surgery. We will coordinate and manage every detail from your arrival in the airport and until you return to home, schedule transportations, bookings accommodation, massage, nurse, and in general all related to the surgery.
WHAT TYPE OF ANESTHESIA DOES DR. GONZALEZ USE?
The type of anesthesia is taylored to each patients needs. Types of anesthesia can include: “Dual Technique” of regional anesthesia/epidural block combined with sedation. This helps you to be able to breathe on your own (don't worry you won't remember anything that happens during surgery since you won’t be awake at all). Regional anesthesia helps control pain better during and after surgery, and helps you recover faster since you will be able to move around easier after the surgery; compared to general anesthesia (putting you under and helping you breathe with a machine). “General anesthesia” is also an alternative, and in some cases mandatory, depending on surgery type.
CAN I HAVE COMPANIONS DURING MY SURGERY JOURNEY?
You can bring one or more persons to accompany you at all times if you'd like, but only one companion is included in your quote for the airport, local transportation and accommodation, more than one companion will have an extra fee.
CAN I TRAVEL BY MYSELF?
You can, but if you are traveling alone you’re required to stay at a Recovery House after your surgery. You will need someone to assist you in everyday activities, and for your safety you need someone to be there for you 24 hours a day.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR A SECOND SUGERY?
You must wait at least 6 months between your first and second round of surgery with Dr. Rios.
FOR HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO KEEP THE DRAINS?
You have to keep your drain in for about 3 weeks (varies by patient), which is usually how long the body takes to reduce liquid production. The drain needs to be taken out when the liquid is equal or less than 30ml a day, for 2 days straight at least, and the liquid becomes a transparent yellow color.
WHAT IS VASER/BODYTITE AND HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED IT?
VASER and BODYITITE are radiofrequency technologies that can helpwith the release of the skin during liposuction (and any previous scar if needed), and/or skin retraction afterwards (it improves the results of liposuction on any area).
Usually Indicated when:
-You already have a previous liposuction
-You have a little extra skin and need help with skin retraction
-You want a High Definition liposuction
WHAT IS THE FORM OF PAYMENT?
First payment of $500 USD is needed to book your surgery date. A second payment should be done 2-4 weeks before surgery and remaining Balance must be done in cash only during your PreOp consultation.
IS FINANCING AVAILABLE?
Yes, up to 24 months at 0% interest is available. Check all the information about financing here.
DO I NEED TO HAVE A SPECIAL DIET BEFORE SURGERY?
Yes, a good healthy “clean” diet is the best for your body going into surgery and for your recovery. We recommend reducing the amount of processed foods, sugars and sodium, since these will increase your inflammation and swelling and Stay hydrated with water before and after surgery.
WHAT EXAMS DO I NEED TO GET BEFORE SURGERY?
We recommend to get baseline CBC as soon as you book or about 3 months before your surgery. Official PreOp blood work is required 4-6 weeks before surgery and last PreOp blood word and urinalysis the day before surgery.
CAN I KEEP DRINKING AND/OR SMOKING BEFORE MY SURGERY?
You should stop drinking and smoking at least 1 month before surgery
CAN I KEEP TAKING MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLEMENTS BEFORE MY SURGERY?
No, you should suspend any other non-approved supplements, vitamins, herbal teas, protein shakes, powder or non-regular electrolyte mix, etc. 6 weeks prior to your surgery.
CAN I KEEP DOING DRUGS BEFORE MY SURGERY?
Absolutely not, drugs usually behave differently than medications, they can affect certain parts of your brain or blood and can change the course of surgery and turn it into a dangerous state. Always disclose everything in your Medical History and inform to the Dr. if you have been taking any type of drugs in the past or up to this point.
DO YOU NEED PASSPORT TO TRAVEL TO TIJUANA?
Per the US laws you are required to have a passport when entering the US from any country. However, the Border Patrol will allow you to cross with a Valid US ID/DL and your Birth Certificate if you’re a US Citizen, or a Green Card if you’re a US Resident.
WHERE I WILL STAY WHEN IN TIJUANA?
The day before your surgery you will stay at a 5 star Hotel. After the surgery you will choose between staying at the same hotel or a recovery house. All the information about the hotel and the recovery house will be sent along your booking. The hotel and recovery house provided by us are included in the quote but if you prefer to stay in any other place it will go under your expenses.
